Welcome to our Uunguu

We Wunambal Gaambera people welcome you to our Country: “Bianngaa graa winya”.

We look forward to sharing with you our rich Wanjina Wungurr culture and the remote, rugged, inspiring beauty of Wunambal Gaambera savannah and coast.

Our Country is home to such North Kimberley icons and Punamii Uunpuu (Mitchell Falls), Ngauwudu (Mitchell Plateau), Wanjina and Gwion paintings and World War II history.

Our living home – our “Uunguu” – is intact. Our culture, landscapes and all the plants and animals our ancestors passed to us are with us today.

We are following our 10-year Healthy Country Plan to look after our Uunguu for the next generations.

We have our Uunguu Visitor Management Plan to manage tourism demands on Wunambal Gaambera Country. This plan is helping Uunguu Rangers to keep places healthy and open, and to provide a unique, enriching Uunguu experience.

Our Uunguu Visitor Pass (UVP) is a cornerstone to this plan. From 2018, all visitors – arriving by road, sea and air – can purchase a pass giving them permission to access up to 50 places to experience and enjoy our culture and natural wonders.

This is our modern way for us and our ancestors to know who is travelling in our country and – as Native Title holders – our communal need.

Enjoy your stay on Wunambal Gaambera Country and, please, take only photos and memories.
