An Uunguu Visitor Pass (UVP) is required for all Bushwalkers on Wunambal Gaambera Country. We have 3 bushwalking corridors open from the 1st July – 31st October each year on Wunambal Gaambera Country:

  1. Yirinni (Hunter River)
  2. Mitchell River
  3.  Munurru (King Edward River)

Bushwalking corridors are closed 1st November through to 30th June due to early dry season on ground and aerial burning. No bushwalker UVPs will be issued during this time.

Bushwalker Terms and Conditions

  • All Bushwalkers must hold an Uunguu Visitor Pass (UVP). Display UVP receipt on vehicle dash.
  • Bushwalking corridors are open 1 July – 31 October. 
  • Bushwalking Corridors are closed 1 November – 30 June due to aerial and on-ground early dry season burning; no Bushwalking UVPs will be issued for this period. 
  • We have 3 bushwalking corridors: Yirinni (Hunter River) Corridor, Lower Mitchell River Corridor and Munurru (King Edward River) Corridor. Specify which Corridor you plan on walking at time of booking your UVP. 
  • All bushwalkers must carry and be able to operate a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) and satellite phone, and carry spare batteries. 
  • For safety reasons, do not walk alone.
  • All Bushwalkers must possess adequate first-aid knowledge and carry comprehensive first-aid kit. 
  • Bushwalkers must obtain adequate insurance in the event of a helicopter rescue. At the time of booking your Bushwalker UVP, submit a copy of your insurance to infouvp@wunambalgaambera.org.au 
  • If the fire danger is high or high winds prevail, do not light a campfire. 
  • If conditions permit a campfire, clear an area of 3 metres around the fire; and keep it small; extinguish with water, then bury with sand. 
  • Never leave a campfire unattended.
  • Carry sufficient food and water for your route; no soaps or detergents in watercourses and bury human waste 100m from watercourse. 
  • You must register at a Ranger Station before and after your walk (Munurru and Mertens Campground). Upper Mitchell Falls
